As the dust settles from Tuesday’s election, Donald Trump and the Republican Party have begun generating a roster of potential appointees to fill the ranks of the incoming administration. This time around the Cabinet and the White House will be filled with loyalist, but Trump brings chaos (I personally witnessed it in the White House), so even the loyalist will enjoy only a short tenure. Thus, competent or skilled policy professionals in the Republican sphere may be hesitant to accept a cabinet position, as doing so would either expose them to Trump’s inevitable targeting and persecution or jeopardize their future prospects for political office following Trump’s presidency. There will be no “adults in the room” and anyone selected will be personally loyal to Trump and uphold the vision of America outlined in Project 2025.
