While I’m concerned about Hegseth’s character, misogyny, and alcoholism, I’m disappointed in the lack of questions about his knowledge of international flash points and our lack of preparedness. These are dangerous times and we need competence at the very least.

Vindman, you must be honored to have the "Vindman Rule" meaning loyalty to trump instead of the Constitution, good for you that you adherence top the Constitution and the rule of law so overwhelmed them they made it a rule to put trump first, party second, and the Untied States and its Constitution a very distant last.
I wonder if it would be possible for a group of Americans Loyal to the United states and the Constitution, which is the basis for ll our laws, to sue in court to have such unfit individuals as Hegseth, Gabbard, Kennedy and others appointed to head critical departments.
It's going to be interesting when he gets that 3 a.m. call. Will he be sober, will he even hear the phone? Will he even be home with his family? Or will he be busy with another fling? Or making another baby?

I imagine there are members of this community who also subscribe to Letters from an American, the Heather Cox Richardson Substack. For those who may not, you may appreciate the professor's reference to Alexander Vindman in her January 13, 2025 letter, as she has before.
I’m very concerned that nominations like Pete Hegseth, RFK Jr. and Kash Patel will ultimately result in the deaths of Americans. Republican senators seem to exhibit a cavalier disregard for the potential consequences of these nominees. They all have serious flaws of character, experience, and backgrounds cluttered by controversy like: sexual assault, blatant lying, little or no understanding of science, belief in conspiracy theories and other assorted weird shit like bringing dead animals home. We don’t need WEIRD in the folks running important government agencies.
This is a total disaster. Trump/MAGA could care less about the consequences of their choices on the country. Pete Hegseth is a drunk and as irresponsible as they come. What rational parent gets drunk, has his children participating in dunking their father in a vat filled with an alcoholic beverage while he’s swilling directly from a bottle and talking nonsense? And for the world to see! As he lacks the capacity to be a decent father and human being, we’ll get that or less from him as Secretary of Defense. We and his children will be defenseless. God save our troops!
