For the past several days Georgians have taken to the streets of Tbilisi to protest a law proposed by the ruling party, “Georgian Dream”. If passed, this law would lead to new limits on non-governmental organizations and media outlets in Georgia and could potentially jeopardize the country’s prospects for EU membership. While these protests haven’t received major media coverage from international press, they nonetheless represent an emerging battleground for liberal democracy in Eurasia.
